When we are tempted to complain about the hardships we suffer because we have decided to follow You – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it.

When we are tempted to crumble because those in leadership have no power to bind the forces of evil – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not. And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither. And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

When we are tempted to believe that God has placed limits on Jesus’ power – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “All things are delivered to Me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal Him.

When we feel our faith growing weak and question your wisdom – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?

When we feel shy and afraid to share the treasures found in Your Word – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

When we are maligned, ridiculed, challenged and interrogated because we believe and practice Your commandments and because we talk up for right and because we love like You did – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

If we hear a voice encouraging us to “relax”, “take it easy”, “go to sleep” because it will be a while before Jesus Christ returns to bring an end to this world – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

If we receive a tweet that claims we have no need to be alert because we have everything set to live on “as is” for the next 20 years – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

If we receive a voicemail that scares us to death where we discover someone has plotted to take our very life because we are standing up for Jesus Christ – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

If we get a memo from someone urging us to be arrogant about who we are and urging us to stampede over those we want to displace as though life is just a “cash-grab fiesta”- help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him; And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room. But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

When we find ourself in a conference room and our mind races about the weekend dinner we are hoping to prepare and whom we should invite – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “… When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

When we are tempted to rough up the people Christ came to save – help us dear Lord not to call You a liar because the Word of God says: “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it , he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it ? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
