The 401(K) Garment

Education, Finance, Future, Garment, Gratuity, Guru, Joy, Pension, Possession, Rejoice, Righteousness, Salary, Success, The 401(k) Garment

A friend of mine just recently went to a company meeting where a “financial guru” was brought in to talk and promote! The facilitatior of the event began to promote with gusto the incalculable benefits of having a pension, gratuity and at least 6 months salary saved in the bank [in case you got fired!] If an American were there the facilitator would have sung the praises of the 401(k) Retirement Plan and if a British person were there the facilitator would have sung the praises of National Insurance Contributions towards a hefty State Pension! While these schemes do have in their own right – a promise for benefits for the future. These benefits are hinged primarily on a hope that they will not fail – that Wall Street cannot collapse, that the financial climate of the entire world remains unchanged and unchallenged.

Even if the 401(k) Retirement Program were to self-destruct or the National Insurance Scheme were to disappear or the possibility of collecting a pension were to become extinct. There is good news – there is a higher hope based on the promises of the Highest Power! Jesus Christ has said:

29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Luke 12:29-34)

…and so although the 401(k) Retirement Plan provides benefits temporarily, the Garment of Jesus Christ’s Righteousness provides eternal protection. Although the National Insurance Contributions provide funds during old age, the Garment of Jesus Christ’s Righteousness is made by the Creator of our entire universe. Although Gratuity gives you a lump sum to splurge, the Garment of Jesus Christ’s Righteousness gives you an ever-increasing lump sum of future benefits where there is no night, no sickness, no death, no heart attack, only joy and rejoicing forever more!

The fact is the pension that may cause us to salivate today cannot measure up to the garment of protection that Jesus Christ has made available to those who put their trust in Him. The fact is, the gratuity that may cause us to dream about a new life cannot compare to eternal mansions and opportunities that God has told us He will provide for us in heaven.

Isaiah 43:2 and Isaiah 43:10-11 tell us:

2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee. When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”

10 “Ye are My witnesses,” saith the Lord, “and My servant whom I have chosen, that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me.

11 I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior.

The fact is the 401(k) Garment cannot compare to the new life we can have right now if we ask Him to come into our hearts.
