The Echo From Eden

Its everywhere! Can you hear it? Chiming through the corridors of time is the echo from eden. This echo can be heard everywhere, in every country, every race, every family, every political system, you name it and the echo is there. Every crevice of this earth rings the echo over and over again. This echo is the echo of sin in its vast array of forms. Each form can be traced back to the first deception that introduced sin into our world. We can all recall the account of how sin deceptively made its entrance into our world. Genesis chapter 3 gives us the introduction of sin into our race.

1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Satan used the serpent to carry out his hellish plan and so to he uses anyone and anything that chooses to be used to carry out his purpose. All of us choose satan to use us unconsciously or consciously by our choices and our decisions at some point in our life. Our parents Adam and Eve did this and today we are doing the same thing. We tend to be angry with Eve for falling for Satan’s deception, but all her children down through the ages have followed in her footstep and sanctioned her decision to disobey God by ourselves falling for the trap of believing Satan’s lies above God’s truth. Today in 2016 some of us or should I say many of us go so far as to even try to alter His word the Holy Bible to suit our own hellish desires. This in itself is an echo from eden. Genesis 3:4-5 gives evidence of this when satan tries to alter what God said. Eve repeated the truth that God had originally told herself and Adam.

Genesis 3:2-3:

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

Satan then comes in Genesis 3: 4-5 and alters what God says:

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

In verse 6 of Genesis chapter 3 we see the disaster that followed as a consequence of believing the altered version of what satan claimed God said:

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

We should never believe an altered version of God’s Bible truth because it suits our desires and purposes. Neither should we ourselves try to alter God word in any way so that it fits in with our postmodern ideas and believes. Many times our postmodern beliefs are lies sold to us by satan just like he sold them to Eve in eden. God says in his word:

Luke 16:17

17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Every sin that we fall into today stems from our disbelief of what God says and our disobedience to His law. It stems from our acceptance of Satan’s altered version of God’s law. Oh how dangerous it is for each and everyone of us to believe the echo from eden. Eve believed the echo from the serpent and look at the disastrous consequences that act of disobedience has had on our world. Genesis 3:8-24 shows us the consequence of belief in an altered version of God’s word:

8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

As we live daily in this so called modern society let us remember that modern is only rightly defined when it walks in accordance with God’s law and principle. Anything other than that is an excuse for the real thing and an acceptance of Satan’s deception. We cannot be more modern than God. He is the maker of everything this world possesses. To claim that God has no place in our modern world is a lie from the pit of hell and everyone who embraces this lie digs a pathway to their own destruction. My prayer is that each and everyone of us will make a firm, unwavering, conscious decision to leave the echo of deception and rebellion in eden and instead embrace the route of escape from our downward pathway of disobedience.
