Cast Them Away As A Menstrous Cloth!

Affliction, Cast Them Away As A Menstrous Cloth!, Clean, Cloth, Fat, Images, Light, Menstrual Cycle, Rain, Rejoice, Seed, Sun, Teacher, World

Sometimes during a time of affliction or being hard-pressed, one can begin to wonder: “What can I do to change this around?” or “How can I begin to experience the joy and rejoicing that I had before darkness engulfed me?” This morning I happened to stumble across an answer to this common problem.

Strikingly enough the answer has to do with a “menstrous cloth” so my mind began to race thinking to itself – Why was such a radical concept used?! When I googled for more information, one writer indicated that a “menstrous cloth” – does not stay clean for long, but is regularly soiled. Then immediately the meaning of the excerpt I had read began to shine through in all its glory. The power of being able to “discard”, “throw away”, “cast off” graven images is energizing.

Any time an individual has reached to the point where he or she has decided to part company and discard graven images, molten images or any image that wants to replace the position and honor that God should have in his or her life – that individual automatically has entered a place of rejoicing, joy, hope and happiness!

The next step is crucial. To cement my commitment to God I need to say to my “mentrous cloth” – “Get thee hence” – Isaiah 30:22 {KJV}. Or as the NASB puts it “Be gone.” Verbally telling “my graven images, molten images or any image that wants to replace the position and honor that God should have in my life” that it is time to go is essential!

The next thing that happens is joy, peace, happiness, blessings, etc. Just in case you want to see for yourself here is the excerpt below from the NASB:

Affliction, Cast Them Away As A Menstrous Cloth!, Clean, Cloth, Fat, Images, Light, Menstrual Cycle, Rain, Rejoice, Seed, Sun, Teacher, World

The KJV puts it this way:

Affliction, Cast Them Away As A Menstrous Cloth!, Clean, Cloth, Fat, Images, Light, Menstrual Cycle, Rain, Rejoice, Seed, Sun, Teacher, World
